Women tend to say “yes” too often…
And to everything…
Driving to appointments
Shopping for your friends
Cooking meals for those in need
Visiting people at home or in the hospital
Now when I just looked at this list, I found myself thinking “Well, what’s wrong with all of that?”
And on one hand, there’s nothing “wrong” with it.
The difficulty lies in taking care of others to the extent that there’s no time or room for you to take care of yourself!
Keeping yourself busy taking care of others is part of what drives the energy of breast cancer.
So, the question becomes – how do you turn that around?
The first step is to take a deep breath, and ask yourself this question “Where am I giving too much of my energy away?”
Now this “yes behavior” is a habit.
And it’s not so simple to “just stop”.
So if you can slow down a bit you become aware that it’s happening again.
It’s OK to say, “I’m not able to do that right now so I can recover my health.”
It’s a simple yet powerful statement.
And there’s no “I’m sorry but…” at the beginning of that sentence.
Because you’re not sorry that you’ve decided to take time and put yourself first.
Perhaps for the first time ever.
It’s one of the most beautiful and smart decisions you’ll ever make.
