The world has evolved over the last several thousand years, but the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) are still applicable. Modern day practitioners of TCM focus attention on restoring and maintaining a natural, healthy flow of energy through the body.
What do I mean by a healing energy?
You feel better when the natural balance in your body is maintained. You see, there’s more to your body than just organs and tissues. There are entire systems that need to be in harmonious balance in order for you to thrive.
One modern modality of TCM is acupuncture.
In fact, acupuncture does more than just balance your body. Western practitioners use acupuncture to stimulate nerves, muscles, and connective tissue to reduce pain and inflammation.
And when you ensure your body has a healthy flow of energy while stimulating your nervous system — the healing opportunities are incredible. Acupuncture has the ability to treat many different conditions and is also known for its ability to provide pain relief.
There is a common misconception when people hear the word “needle” as it refers to acupuncture...
The needles used in the world of medicine and dentistry are very large, but an acupuncture needle is thinner than one of the hairs on top of your head. Acupuncture needles are disposable; they are used only once. They are very fine and don’t feel like any needles you might have come across before.
Here are just a few of the conditions successfully treated with acupuncture:
I have been a licensed acupuncturist since 1987 and have helped thousands of people recover their health and restore their lives in my clinical practice. I have a very light touch and specialize with people who are uncomfortable with needles.
If you’re truly invested in your health and overall wellbeing, I am honored to guide you on your healing journey.

FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE TM
There is no “one cure” for any disease. We are all built in a unique way. What may cause illness in one person, may not be the case for another. Same goes for medications or treatments — not everything works for everybody across the board! Because we’re all different, we all deserve treatment that’s tailored to our body.
That’s what Functional Medicine is about — personalizing care for you.
The process of becoming healthy starts by discovering what’s driving your disease. That’s why the root of Functional Medicine is testing.
The results provided by these tests take the guesswork out of why you are sick and provide clear measurements of what’s contributing to your illness.
This is the beginning of a detailed understanding of your genetic, metabolic, biochemical, and lifestyle factors. We use this information to provide personalized treatment plans with the goal of addressing the underlying cause of your illness to improve your health.
Treatments are evidence-based and involve a combination of nurturing nutritional, targeted supplementation, detoxification programs, Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, stress-management and healthy lifestyle transformation.
Together, with a comprehensive understanding of what caused your illness, we'll create a comprehensive protocol that addresses the underlying root-cause factors and assists you on your road to recovering your health.
Functional Medicine is personalized health care at its best!

As a homeopath, illness is seen as your body telling you something is out of balance. Your body and mind strive for balance. Homeopathy works with your body to enable this healing from within.
A homeopathic remedy is prescribed after an extensive interview. The goal of the homeopathic interview is to uncover and understand the unique symptoms displayed by you which are creating your "illness".
Homeopathy excels in its ability to address complex, chronic disease and “strange and unusual symptoms.” It does this by understanding both the disease and the person affected. You are viewed and treated as an individual, not as your illness or disease.

Naturopathic medicine emphasizes prevention and focuses on whole-person wellness. We look at nutrition, supplements, stress management and lifestyle change – all personalized to the driving factors contributing to your illness.
Now known as the “root-cause approach,” this approach involves listening and understanding the many clues your body and mind use to communicate that something is out of balance, even before symptoms of the disease even appeared.
I have seen the greatest success in reclaiming your health when we begin with the time before your illness or disease became apparent.
Naturopathic health forms the foundation of my practice — how I approach illness, health, and recovery.
It is possible to recover your health and restore your life!

The Standard American Diet (SAD), environmental toxins, and chronic stress have all contributed to what is known as a “Relative Nutritional Deficiency” or RND.
A Relative Nutritional Deficiency occurs when an “optimal” diet does not meet your nutritional needs.
The NeuroSupport Amino Acid Protocol has been developed by Marty Hinz, MD, through his more than twenty years of clinical practice and treatment of thousands of patients.
Dr. Hinz’s approach deals with simultaneous administration of properly balanced serotonin and dopamine precursors. To function correctly, these brain chemicals depend on the right balance of amino acids. Unfortunately, many Americans are deficient.
Serotonin is a chemical produced by nerve cells and made from the essential amino acid tryptophan. Serotonin sends signals between your nerve cells and is an important chemical and neurotransmitter in the human body. It is found mostly in the digestive system, although it's also in blood platelets and throughout the central nervous system.
Most of us are familiar with serotonin and how it affects your mood and mental health. Serotonin is in the brain and is known to contribute to your mood, happiness, memory, and anxiety.
Your body uses serotonin in several different ways:
Serotonin is also found in your stomach and intestines, contributes to appetite, and controls the function of your bowels. Serotonin is produced when you become nauseated, and this increase in production of serotonin helps to remove old or unhealthy food or other substances from your body.
Serotonin is also responsible for stimulating the parts of your brain that control memory, pleasure, sleep, and waking.
Dopamine functions both as a hormone and a neurotransmitter and plays several important roles in the brain and the body. In the brain, dopamine functions as a neurotransmitter, a chemical released by nerve cells to send signals to other cells.
Outside of the brain, dopamine functions as a local cell-to-cell messenger; it is synthesized locally and exerts its effects near the cells that release it. In that way, it is involved with controlling blood pressure, managing urine output, reducing insulin production, reducing GI movement, and protecting the intestinal mucosa. It also reduces the activity of lymphocytes, the white blood cells in your immune system which function as a central part of your immune system.
Whenever there is not enough serotonin (it’s low, inadequate, depleted or suboptimal), a Relative Nutritional Deficiency of serotonin precursors or cofactors required for the synthesis of serotonin always exists. The same can be said for dopamine.
The NeuroSupport protocol can be used for any health condition. I have used this method for chronic depression and anxiety which have been unresponsive to prior therapies, and Parkinson’s Disease.
After obtaining a proper diagnosis, we then begin with either the serotonin or dopamine protocol.
While some people might experience complete relief of their Relative Nutritional Deficiency within a brief period of time, it often takes several weeks of care to begin to see results.
In order to provide you with the care you need, weekly visits are necessary to properly track your progress and adjust the dose of your supplements. When dealing with chronic illness, it can take three to six months for Relative Nutritional Deficiency symptoms to resolve.
When put into perspective, this amount of time is not long, considering how ill you’ve become and the level of which your disease has impacted your life.
I have seen amazing improvement in people’s illness using this method and will be happy to address any questions you might have.
